Which Braces are Right for You?

Find out what your options are for getting a straighter smile in Williamsburg, VA.

Dental BracesWe know that there are many people out there just dying to get a straighter smile. If you are one of them, you’ve come to the right place! Our Williamsburg, VA, family dentists, Dr. Ricky Rubin, Dr. Brett Dunnill, and Dr. Omar Hasham, can help you fix that crooked or misaligned smile based on your specific needs. Here are the different orthodontic treatments from which to choose,

Traditional Metal Braces

These are the types of braces you may picture when it comes to getting orthodontics; however, these braces have also certainly changed for the better over the years. In fact, these metal braces are now thinner and lighter, making them more comfortable to wear. Stainless steel brackets are bonded to the front of teeth and are interconnected with a thin wire, which provides the teeth with just enough pressure to shift them into the proper position.

Ceramic Braces

Often called clear braces, ceramic braces use the same bracket-and-wire system as traditional metal braces, although there is a major difference: ceramic braces are tooth-colored, making them less visible when you smile. This is a great option for teens and adults who are dealing with more complicated dental issues that traditional braces would more effectively address while also minimizing the appearance of your braces.

Invisalign

Invisalign uses a very different system from traditional braces and ceramic braces. Instead of brackets and wires, Invisalign uses clear, removable aligners that are custom-made to cover teeth and move them around. Invisalign doesn’t use any metal and it’s one of the least noticeable braces available. Each aligner is worn for 1-2 weeks at a time, with the number of aligners depending on the severity of the dental issues you are correcting. Invisalign is a great option for both older teens and adults.
